  4. Hi there,

I love the Ubud Monkey Forest and have been there three times now over the years . I’ve been wondering however … have there been any recent cases of rabies at the Forest? I visited again 2 weeks ago, but noticed a small scratch late the next day. It may not have even happened at the forest visit but I’ve been advised to check in with you.

Keep up the good work. The Monkey Forest is an amazing place.

    Best wishes Caz

Thank you for the information you have provided, this place truly attracts me from the moment I saw those photos on Instagram! I am planning to visit Bali for a 5-day getaway during the Independence Day’s long weekend this upcoming August, and I was wondering if this place closes during national holidays? I would very much like to take pictures with the monkeys, but are they also known to be friendly to most visitors?

    Sincerely,

    Thomas

  6. Hi!
I will be staying about an hour away from the Monkey Forest in Southern Bali, but am very interested in visiting. What would you recommend for cheap transportation? Is it expensive to rent a car for the day? How expensive are taxis? Do you have transportation? Or, would our best bet be renting a motor bike? My concern with that is a motor bike would take longer than an hour!

    Thank you!
    Katie

    1. Dear Katie
Warmest greeting from Monkey Forest Ubud

Greetings from just 5 minutes down the road.
I came yesterday but due to some sickness with our group I forgot to ask. I saw in lonely planet that we could make a contribution of 150,000 to plant a tree to offset our emissions to Bali.
Me personally, am trying to make my stay here rubbish and impact almost zero (it will probability be positive) and would like to plant a tree, is there any way I can pay in other means?

I also ask, where are these trees getting planted?

    Kind regards
    Lloyd

  10. Hello,
I have visited Mobkey Forest yesterday and sadly got a monkey bite which was bleeding a little bit.
In Ubud clinic the wound was cleaned and I got a rabies vaccination just to be safe.
My question is have there been any cases of rabies in the monkeys or in dogs/cats (if there are any in the park)? Or have there been any reported infectious deseases people got after a bite?
Other than that incident we enjoyed the monkey forest a lot.
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
