  1. I was nipped by a monkey in the monkey forest about two weeks ago (June 7). As it did not break the skin, I did not go in for post-exposure vaccination, but I’m concerned that there could have been a microscopic tear. In the event that there was a tear, is it likely that I could have been exposed to rabies? I know your website says that all of your monkeys are healthy, but I’m wondering if you’ve had any cases of rabies in any of your monkeys since that date. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you.

    1. Dear Sir/Madam

Warmest greeting from Monkey Forest Ubud
thank you for your email, i would like to inform you that our monkeys are healthy without any diseases, we have cooperation with the Primate Research Center of Udayana University to monitoring their health and we also have our own animal clinic to giving the treatment to the monkey who sick and we never find any rabies in our monkeys.
For rabies test, we will do when we find our monkey suddenly dead without any clear reason. In this case refer to the advice from Primate Research Centre of Udayana University of Bali, we will bring the body of the monkey to Bali Animal Disease Investigation Centre for rabies test.
What we know they will take the brain tissue as sample for rabies testing.
For your information, from the test that conducted in 2013, 2014 and 2015 (the last on November 18, 2015), the results always RABIES NEGATIVE.
We don’t have any data for 2016 and 2017 due to there is no monkeys die without any clear reason in 2016 and until today.

For your information we have first aid clinic, where we giving the treatment to the visitors who get scratch or bitten by a monkey during their visit,
our professional nurse there will give the treatment depend on your case, if they think you need any treatment to hospital ( beyond they can handle in first aid clinic) they will recommended and escort you.
Commonly you just need to wash the wound with flowing water and soap and give antiseptic.

The visitors may get bitten or scratches by the monkey because they have an interaction, such as feeding or taking pictures, as we know we are interact with wild animal and they have unpredictable reaction.

We hope this information useful for you, if you need any further information; do not hesitate to let me know.
